In 1999, Houston’s Lil’ Troy declared that 20-inch wheels on an Impala to be the pinnacle of Ballerdom. How far we’ve come.
Clean version, SFW(FH):
I still wonder today if he ever found that better way he was seeking, or if he’s still just making money the fly way.
Lots of car references in the lyrics and the video. He also appears to be a big fan of clubs and massage parlors.

I’m quite happy with the ‘ little’ 16s on my minivan and grateful I didn’t get the bigger wheels and tires.

Agree to disagree.

I hate big wheels so much.
Terrible ride, easily damaged, expensive tires, hit to fuel economy, really what is the point?!?!?

I read the headline and for some reason my brain immediately went to basketball
“Huh? They’re a fixed height and diameter! these things are regulated! .........ohhhhhh I see what he means”

Big brakes. That’s the only reason.

Big brakes are only as good as the tires putting the stopping
power to the ground.
Honestly, most vehicles have more braking power than they will ever need.

yup. You speak no lies. But performance cars do want to be able to brake a bunch of times and not get fade. Do people need this ? No. But much like having a big powerful engine, it’s not about what you need, but what you want.
Also, good to remember that cars are getting heavier and heavier, which isn’t helping the situation.

I almost went minilites on mine but the 4 spoke revos came up at a better price

Previous owner added the minilites, I intend to keep them however tires options are VERY limited.

Can’t stand giant rims. I bought my 09 Yukon 6 months ago and it came with 20's. I want to trade them for some 18's because I prefer sidewall. And I live in Michigan with shit roads, I’d rather not dent a rim on a pot hole.
I joined a Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade group on facebook to try and watch for any trade offers and oh my god the things I have seen. 1- they are all idiots. All of them. 2 - most of them have 24" or larger rims on their trucks. It looks awful.

oh trust me I know tyre options are limited, the rears are 9.5 inch wide, my choice was limited to Nankang AR1 or budget chinese death rings to get the right size

lol damn 9.5

Most automobiles do not have brakes that withstand the punishment I want to give them.

Eh, fade can be mitigated by going to vented rotors without the need for going bigger.

Anecdotally, speaking I’ve overheated reasonable sized vented rotors on a mountain pass before (350z - 17” wheels were the minimum size that would fit over the calipers)
This has not happened to me in my car with gigantic brakes when driving similar roads despite longer sustained abuse, a heavier chassis and a lot more power. Still totally unnecessary, but nice to have.
